It was reported that Rho/Rho-kinase pathway correlated with the increase of transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) and connective tissue growth factor (CCN2) in diabetes, and the RhoA/Rho-kinase was activated in diabetic db/db mice and rat mesangial cells (MCs) exposed to high glucose [50, 51]. This evidence concerns the gene CCN2 and diabetes mellitus.
