Based on our experimental data, we propose that in ovarian cancer cells, lysophosphatidic acid mediates the expression of both the transcription factor ATF3 and miR-30c-2-3p, which is a miRNA primarily expressed in ovarian and renal cancers (S3 Fig) that we have previously shown is also induced by lysophosphatidic acid [6]. The gene discussed is ATF3; the disease is renal carcinoma.
