Our previous study have reported that the SP of E. cava inhibited the growth of U937 cells, a leukemia cell line as causing DNA damages such as the formation of apoptotic bodies and DNA fragmentation through regulating mitochondrial pathway related with apoptotic molecules such as Bcl-2 and Bax (Athukorala et al., 2009[5]). Here, BCL2 is linked to leukemia.
