More recently, the results of phase II trials in metastatic melanoma patients with brain metastases demonstrated efficacy of both BRAF inhibitors vemurafenib and dabrafenib in the brain; however, progression‐free survival was short‐lived with approximately 4–6 months only (Azer et al., 2014; Dummer et al., 2014; Kefford et al., SMR 2013; Long et al., 2012).
