In women diagnosed with chorioamnionitis and premature labor increased plasma levels of some pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs), such as interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), calcium binding protein A5 (S100A5), prolyl 4-hydroxylase alpha polypeptide 2 (P4HA2), interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin-8 (IL-8), lipopolysaccharides (LPS), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), and C-reactive protein (CRP), were discovered [8–11].
