Several studies in developed countries have demonstrated that non-HAART treatment, hepatitis B coinfection, tuberculosis coinfection, being older than 50 years of age, having black or brown skin, intravenous drug abuse, lack of schooling as well as a baseline CD4+ T-cell count lower than 500 cells/mm3 were predictors of higher rate of AIDS progression [18–20]. Here, CD4 is linked to AIDS.
