ACHE and amnesia: Since, scopolamine is a known nonselective muscarinic acetylcholine receptor antagonist, which in turn blocks the effects of acetylcholine, impairs LTP, and induces amnesia in mammals [34], and it has been widely used to induce amnesia in animal models, we also examined alterations in the activity of acetylcholinesterase to validate the scopolamine's anticholinergic effects which might lead to accumulation of the synaptic acetylcholine content and thereby increase in the activity of acetylcholinesterase.
