Similarly, SLE patients with complement consumption (low C3 or low C4) did not have higher cSLEDAI scores than SLE patients with normal complement levels (p = 0.201 and p = 0.688, regarding C3 and C4, respectively), and cSLEDAI and C-reactive protein (CRP) did not correlate (r = -0.050, p = 0.742) (results not shown). This evidence concerns the gene C4A and systemic lupus erythematosus.
