van Vliet-Ostaptchouk et al. [9] reported that variants of the TCF7L2 gene might affect the susceptibility toT2DM in a Dutch population and found that the minor allele of the rs12255372 was significantly more prevalent in T2DM patients than control subjects (34% vs. 29%, p = 0.003), and the frequencies of the heterozygous genotype (GT) and homozygous genotype (TT) were also increased in T2DM patients (p = 0.012). The gene discussed is TCF7L2; the disease is type 2 diabetes mellitus.
