KCC2 expression is susceptible to CNS injury (Galeffi et al., 2004; Bonislawski et al., 2007; Papp et al., 2008; Boulenguez et al., 2010; Jaenisch et al., 2010; Ma et al., 2014; Tian et al., 2015), and reduced KCC2 has been reported in CA3 pyramidal neurons resected from humans with epilepsy (Huberfeld et al., 2007), and in peri-tumoral cortex (Pallud et al., 2014; Campbell et al., 2015). Here, SLC12A5 is linked to epilepsy.
