Using polytomous logistic regression, we demonstrated that HAART was independently associated with reduced odds of PJP (Adjusted odds ratio (aOR) 0.245, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.08–0.80) and reduced odds of mixed infections (aOR 0.172, 95%CI: 0.03–0.91) as a discharge diagnosis, adjusting for diagnosis of HIV infection prior to admission, age, socioeconomic level, illegal drug use, CD4+ cells/mm3, and viral load (Table 4).
