The 34 SNPs detected in the comparison between severe influenza cases and the general population comprised 16 intergenic SNPs, 14 intronic SNPs, two synonymous SNPs, and two nonsynonymous SNPs: rs11551002 in gene APLP1 (amyloid precursor-like protein 1, involved in neural function), and rs11216131 in BUD13, which participates in the regulation of serum lipid levels. This evidence concerns the gene APLP1 and influenza.
