There exists literature supporting the crucial role of these genes in the development of colon cancer: for example, COL12A1 has been reported to be expressed in colon cancer patients [36]; FAT4 has been shown to have increased recurrent mutation in colorectal cancer [37]; MLL2 is known to have altered expression in colon cancer as well [38]. This evidence concerns the gene COL12A1 and malignant colon neoplasm.
