We found that administering oxaliplatin as first-line chemotherapy to CRC patients with liver metastases enhanced the patients' expression levels of two important genes: excision repair cross-complementing group 1 (ERCC1, a nucleotide excision repair pathway gene) and dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase (DPYD, a pyrimidine catabolic pathway gene). The gene discussed is ERCC1; the disease is colorectal carcinoma.
