Interestingly, human BECs collected from patients with a subsequent lung cancer diagnosis (n = 56) had significantly higher IL6 expression than those without (n = 22) (0.0029 ± 0.0034 vs. 0.0013 ± 0.0014, p = 0.027 with adjustment for the rs1800797 genotype). This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and lung cancer.
