As a potent inducer of cytoprotective enzymes (antioxidant and anti-inflammatory) via Nrf2, sulforaphane thus directly affects both the antioxidant deficiencies that have been associated with poor asthma control and accelerated lung function decline [16–18], and the inflammatory component of these conditions [12–14], both of which represent attractive therapeutic targets.
