Additionally, while studies have identified several sarcoidosis-related serum markers, including soluble interleukin-2 receptor (sIL-2R), serum angiotensin-converting enzyme (SACE), and Krebs Von den Lungen-6 (KL-6) [4–6], these markers do not have sufficient sensitivity and specificity for the effective differential diagnosis of sarcoidosis, and the potential clinical applications of these markers have not been established. This evidence concerns the gene MUC1 and sarcoidosis.
