In conclusion, our data suggest that EPHB2 and ERBB3 identify different sub-types of colorectal cancer, including stem cell enriched tumours (EPHB2+/ERBB3-), tumours that contain mutually exclusive compartments (EPHB2+/ERBB3+) or tumours lacking an EPHB2 stem cell compartment (EPHB2-). This evidence concerns the gene ERBB3 and colorectal cancer.
