The hallmarks of MHV-3-induced FH in susceptible BALB/cJ and C57BL/6 mice include the appearance of liver sinusoidal thrombosis and hepatocellular necrosis, resulting from over expression of a virus-induced, monocyte/macrophage-specific procoagulant, fibrinogen-like protein-2 (FGL2). Here, FGL2 is linked to familial hyperaldosteronism.
