A number of up-regulated genes involved in the inflammatory process were observed to be expressed in the NASH group, including those involved in inflammatory signaling pathways (e.g., major histocompatibility complex class II DM alpha, phospholipase C gamma 2, early growth response 2, paralemmin 3), the infiltration of inflammatory cells (myelin protein zero-like 2 and C-type lectin domain family 4 member F), and anti-inflammatory processes (secretoglobin family 1A member 1, interferon induced transmembrane protein 1). The gene discussed is HLA-DMA; the disease is metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
