PD prevalence rates among Arabs (~10% of Israel's population > 50 years) were also suggested to be lower compared to Jews in former studies [35], while on the other hand among Ashkenazi Jews rates may be higher, due to the high frequency of PD-associated mutations in LRRK2 (G2019S) and GBA genes among this population in Israel [36, 37]. The gene discussed is LRRK2; the disease is Parkinson disease.
