Epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM) is a glycosylated, type I transmembrane protein, which is overexpressed in various neoplasms such as breast cancer [3], hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) [4], glioma [5], and colorectal cancer [6], and is used as a diagnostic and prognostic marker. This evidence concerns the gene EPCAM and central nervous system cancer.
