Recently, the TRPC1 channels in the myocardium have been shown to mediate hypertrophic signaling [28], while others have shown that TRPV2 channels play a role in the development of dilated cardiomyopathy [11] and in maintaining structural integrity of the heart [17], though this is the first time that the TRPV2 channels have been shown to mediate a cardiac response to exercise. The gene discussed is TRPV2; the disease is dilated cardiomyopathy.
