In univariate analysis, factors associated with death were being male (HR 2.604, 95% CI 1.758–3.856, p < 0.001), every 10-y increase in age (HR 1.258, 95% CI 1.155–1.371), CD4 count ≤ 200 cells/mm3 or AIDS (HR 15.344, 95% CI 8.918–26.402, p < 0.001), and receiving ART (HR 0.231, 95% CI 0.162–0.328, p < 0.001). This evidence concerns the gene CD4 and AIDS.
