We have shown, for example, that KRAS mutation status and an inflammatory response have an impact on Abi1 expression levels in CRC cells [96]; taking this into account, the mere expression of actin-binding proteins does not necessarily imply a more aggressive tumor behavior, all the more since most of these proteins are subject to phosphorylation and dephosphorylation events with great impact on their respective activity.
