We previously reported marked interstitial infiltration of CD4+ and CD8+ T cells with increased interferon- (IFN-) γ and TNF-α in streptozotocin- (STZ-) induced diabetic mice, as well as increased infiltration of CD4+, CD8+, and CD20+ cells in the renal interstitium of patients with type 2 diabetic nephropathy [5]. The gene discussed is CD8A; the disease is type 2 diabetes nephropathy.
