Among the genes whose expression and/or methylation is altered by in utero exposure to DES, two are particularly relevant for cancer development: the EZH2 histone methyltransferase involved in breast cancer, in glioblastoma, and in other tumors [96, 97] and the HOXA10 gene, involved in cell stemness and in glioblastoma [75, 98]. The gene discussed is EZH2; the disease is breast cancer.
