TP53 and neoplasm: A Japanese study by Matsuzoe et al. [45] investigated p53 mutations in 20 paired synchronous double tumours; p53 mutations occurred in 7/20 samples, with three different distributions: (i) only one tumour had the mutation (4/7); (ii) each tumour had a different mutation (2/7); and (iii) the same mutation was found in both tumours (1/7).
