GNRH1 and Infertility: Deslorelin (the active ingredient in Suprelorin® 4.7 mg and Suprelorin® 9.4 mg; Virbac) is a synthetic gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist that is seven times more potent than GnRH.1 Prolonged stimulation of GnRH receptors by deslorelin leads to desensitization of these receptors.2 This results in a lack of synthesis and/or lack of release of the gonadotropins luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), inducing temporary infertility in treated individuals.3
