Sal-like protein 4 (SALL4), a stem cell marker expressed in fetal livers and various malignancies, is a zinc finger transcription factor that plays a role in maintaining self-renewal in embryonic stem cells and has been used as a marker of germ cell tumor [6], AFP-producing gastric carcinoma [7], and aggressive hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) [8]. This evidence concerns the gene SALL4 and testicular germ cell tumor.
