Phagocytosis-related genes utilized for this co-expression analysis included those involved in phagosome maturation (PLD1 [41], RAB5A [42], RAB7A [43], VAMP7 [44], WAS [45]) and phagosome processing (CRK [46], PLA2G4A [46], PLA2G5 [47], STAB2 [46], TNFSF11 [48]) in order to get as close as possible to active phagocytosis process rather than mere presence of phagocytes in the tumour (Fig. 8).
