In the intracellular compartment, TG2 is mostly cytosolic but also found on the plasma membrane, in the nuclear membrane and in mitochondria.11, 12, 13, 25 Dysregulation of TG2 function(s) has been implicated in pathogenesis of celiac disease,11, 13, 26 diabetes,24 neurodegenerative disorders such as Huntington's, Alzheimers's and Parkinson's disease11, 12, 21 as well as inflammatory disorders and cancer.11 Here, TGM2 is linked to diabetes mellitus.
