When cisplatin cytotoxicity was tested in these cells using the MTT assay, it was found that A549 and H157 cells with knocked down IL-6 were more sensitive than their scrambled control cells (Fig. 1A, 1B), suggesting that NSCLC cells showed different responses to cisplatin treatment depending on their intracellular IL-6 level and reduced level of intracellular IL-6 made cells more sensitive to cisplatin.
