One explanation for the greater resistance of srfr1‐1 relative to RLD in our insect feeding and nematode infection experiments and the previously reported constitutively upregulated PR1, PR2 and PDF1.2 (PLANT DEFENSIN1.2) defence gene expression in srfr1‐1 plants (Kim et al., 2009a) could be higher endogenous levels of JA, JA‐Ile and SA in srfr1‐1 leaves and roots.
