Although the anti-angiogenic [10] and anti-EGFR [11] effects of EFEMP1 may account for its anti-tumor effect in most cancer types, EFEMP1's tumor-promoting role has been related to activation of NOTCH signaling [12], and hence is likely associated with conditions in the stem-like cancer-cell context [13, 14].
