The findings that Hep3Bx and HepG2x cells were more resistant to all tested chemotherapeutic agents including doxorubicin (Figure 2E), fluorouracil (5-FU), methotrexate (MTX), and paclitaxel (Supplemental Figure S3A) support the role of maspin suppression in HBx-mediated chemoresistance in HCC cells.
