A comparative genomic hybridization study of 15 celiac disease-related and 33 unrelated small bowel adenocarcinomas showed similar chromosomal aberrations between the two subsets, but there was a higher rate of APC gene promoter hypermethylation and of microsatellite instability in celiac disease-related tumors (67% versus 33%) [26]. The gene discussed is APC; the disease is small intestine adenocarcinoma.
