We propose that methyl sartortuoate inhibits colon cancer cell growth and induces apoptosis through the activation of caspase-8, caspase-9 and caspase-3, accompanied by the inactivation of Bcl-2 and up-regulation of p53 and Bax, this results in cell cycle arrest in LoVo cells at the G2-M phase. The gene discussed is TP53; the disease is colonic neoplasm.
