P2RY1 and peripheral arterial disease: Alternative antiplatelet medications including Adenosine Diphosphate (ADP) receptor antagonists (e.g. Ticlopidine, Clopidogrel and Ticagrelor)[11], phosphodiesterase inhibitors (Cilostazol),[12] thromboxane blockers (Picotamide)[13] and a novel protease-activated receptor-1 antagonist (Vorapaxar)[14] have all been proposed for prophylactic treatment in PAD patients but no trial has been able to compare the effectiveness of these medications together.
