Since suppression of the BZ-induced IL-8 expression increases the BZ pro-apoptotic effect in ovarian cancer cells, and since IL-8 levels correlate with ovarian cancer progression [9–12], these data suggest that the BZ-induced IL-8 expression might represent one of the mechanisms responsible for the decreased effectiveness of BZ in ovarian cancer treatment. Here, CXCL8 is linked to ovarian cancer.
