Since our data demonstrated that suppression of IL-8 enhances the BZ pro-apoptotic effect (Figure 1), and since studies by Mabuchi et al. [31, 32] indicated that IKK inhibition by the soluble IKK inhibitor Bay 117085 induces apoptosis in ovarian cancer cells, we hypothesized that IKK inhibition by Bay 117085 inhibits the BZ-induced IL-8 expression in ovarian cancer cells. This evidence concerns the gene CXCL8 and ovarian cancer.
