Effluent inosine levels increased from 51.6 ± 29 pmol/ml (WT) and 70.1 ± 25.5 pmol/ml (CD73-/-) at baseline to 5390 ± 2095 pmol/ml (WT) and 11604 ± 3962 pmol/ml (CD73-/-) after IPC (p<0.01, n = 7–8 each), which demonstrates an even higher nucleoside flux in CD73-deficient hearts after short-term ischemia compared to WT.
