In summary, comparison of the frequencies of the protective HLA-A-HLA-E phenotypes to the frequencies of any other genotypes or their opposite risk phenotypes showed a marked decrease on the risk of EBV-associated cHL, demonstrating an additive effect of HLA-E and HLA-A genetics on protection against EBV-positive cHL (e.g. OR = 0.013 for the E*01:01+veA*01-veA*02+ve phenotype in comparison with its reciprocal, p = 2.9x10-5). This evidence concerns the gene HLA-E and classic Hodgkin lymphoma.
