It has been reported that in MCF7 breast cancer cells and DU145 prostate cancer cells, Fas/Fas ligand tract might be involved in apoptosis induction [45, 46], while other reports showed down-regulation of the anti-apoptotic Bcl-2/Bcl-XL and overexpression of the pro-apoptotic Bax, Puma, and Noxa proteins as the potential mechanism of apoptosis initiated during PBA treatment [21, 24].
