The frequency of NLRP2 alleles and genotypes was not significantly different between controls and patients with periodontitis; however, the frequency of polymorphic allele T was substantially higher in patients with chronic pancreatitis than in controls with no pancreatic pathology [30.77 vs. 6.09 %, p < 0.0001, odds ratio (OR) = 6.8571, 95 % CI = 3.3262–14.1364] see Tables 1, 2, and 3. The gene discussed is NLRP2; the disease is periodontitis.
