We aimed to explore expression changes in candidate genes: BNP (Brain Natriuretic Peptide) as a heart failure marker, SERCA2A2 (Sarcoplasmic/endoplasmic reticulum calcium ATPase 2, ATP2A2), known to be down regulated in failing hearts, and KCNA5 coding for Kv1.5 which seems to interact with MYO5B and FHL1C (found deregulated in our microarray data) (Fig 6). This evidence concerns the gene KCNA5 and heart failure.
