HOMER1 and nervous system disorder: Consistent with previous studies, we confirmed that NMDA treatment induced a large Ca2+ influx, ROS generation and activation of downstream signaling pathways, all of which were related to NMDA-induced neuronal injury.38 Homer1a regulation of calcium homeostasis and receptor trafficking has been reported in several neurological diseases.39, 40 Our previous study found that Homer1a protected against traumatic brain injury by regulating group I mGluRs.41 In this study, we observed Homer1a protected neurons from NMDA-induced neuronal injury and apoptosis.
