Studies in the literature also describe DUSP26 as a potential tumor suppressor in breast cancer and cervical carcinoma.39, 40 This data, however, convincing and well described, does not mandate that DUSP26 must serve as a tumor suppressor in every cancer especially when comparing an embryonal, neural crest-derived malignancy to epithelial malignancies seen in adults. Here, DUSP26 is linked to breast carcinoma.
