To evaluate whether a KAI1-/p27- signature can distinguish high risk primary melanomas, and examine the prognostic value of this combined marker, we separated 145 primary melanomas into two subgroups: a metastasis-like group (ML) of 48 patients with negative expression of both KAI1 and p27 (33.10%), and a non-metastasis-like group (NML) of 97 patients with positive expression of either KAI1 or p27 or both (66.90%) (Table 3). The gene discussed is CD82; the disease is melanoma.
