When we intravenously challenged the March5+/+ and Mach5+/− mice with replication-competent vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV, Indian strain), all March5+/+ mice died within 6 days of the infection, whereas 40% of March5+/− mice still survived at 9 days (Fig. 1a), indicating that March5+/− mice were more resistant to VSV infection. This evidence concerns the gene MARCHF5 and infection.
