Immunohistopathological breast carcinoma studies with restricted numbers of samples (n = 53 and 120, respectively) reveal a gradual increase in the amount of infiltrating macrophages (CD68+) from normal breast tissue to benign proliferative breast disease, ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) and infiltrating ductal carcinoma [20, 21]. Here, CD68 is linked to ductal breast carcinoma in situ.
